More than likely. I'd say that was because, as I pointed out a long time ago, that Grayson never used substitutes or his squad, in general, effectively.

Would agree with this, it's very strange that for such a big squad he rearely moved away from his favoured 15-18 players.

Poor utilisation of the squad and also with quite a few unhappy about not getting a game ever, this was bound to cause problems amongst the players

Should've spoken up at the time then.

Ahh well, he's the past now. Should imagine we will see quite a few leave in the summer.

NEIL WARNOCK had a secret get-out clause put in his 15-month Leeds contract – in case he finds he simply cannot get on with Ken Bates.

The marrying of the pair at the club has been likened to a combination of nitro and glycerine, and many outsiders are expecting fireworks before too long.
But Leeds’ answer to the Odd Couple spent a very convivial six hours in each other’s company in Monte Carlo finalising the deal.
The additional clause allowing Warnock to walk away at the end of the season was included so the pair can always part on good terms. His dash to Monaco came as a result of tax-exile Bates having all but run out of the quota of days he is allowed to come to Britain before the tax year starts in April.
This was due, mainly, to the extended nature of his 80th birthday celebrations back in December.
The group had no idea that their clandestine meeting had been photographed at the Cafe de Paris – Bates’ favourite haunt in the Principality.

Perhaps they were too absorbed in negotiations, which are understood to have included such minor details as who should pay for Warnock’s petrol to and from training.

That's why he got sacked, he was fucking useless at rotating his squad and froze players out straight after they had good games, Nunez, Bruce, Bromby, the list goes on.

Becchio looks a different player already under Warnock's influence.

I think our fading after January the last few seasons though has been in a big part attributable to fitness.
Hasn't it got just as much to do with teams around us investing to improve, particularly Norwich in Jan '10 and most teams above us in Jan '11?

What about the much-quoted effect of the FA Cup run in 2010?
Poyet and Wise unsettling the team by both fucking off by the end of January 2008?
The fact that the difference between the first and second halves of last season only differed by six points?

That's three of the last four seasons covered.
In the other, 2008/09, we won 36 points in the first 23 games and 48 in the latter half of the season.

One good omen since admin is that each new manager has stormed to the end of his first season.
McAllister won 32 points in 17 games.
Grayson won 52 points in 25 games.
If Colin can get anywhere near that we should be in the play-offs.

I do think though, the last two seasons we have struggled after new year. Definately fitness has played a part in that as has not investing in the team in the winter window. Look at our promotion season, I dont think we desperately needed investment in the squad to get us up but we still threw away a massive lead and limped over the line into second. Last season though we really needed some new faces for the push for the play offs and we fucked that up by getting fuck all in.

I think fitness shows more over a game than a season. IIRC, the style Kidd instilled was supposed to ensure fitness for the run-in, by which time the damaging effect it had on our previous Gray-inspired tactics meant the run-in meant next to fuck all.

Wise's team was supposed to be super-fit, particularly for DIv3, but they hit a similar slump over New Year. In fact, Leeds hitting the wall in January is a long-told tale, like our past inability to win away and our ability to take throw-ins or defend corners.
These things seem to continue far longer than the reign of any one manager.

If fitness was the problem in promotion year, how did we win 5 of the last 7 games?

Eye-opening programme. Similarities between us and QPR, board hated, cost cutting, dwindling attendances, Warnock coming in with a 3rd season left.

He got promotion by spending £3m on 9 players.
