my first years insurance was 1,700 fully comp on a 1.2 clio, absolute rip off, went down to 1,200 2nd year and got renewal last month for 1,100 or 980 3rd party, i was fucking fuming, 24, 2 years no claims and it goes down 100 quid, after searching about, got it for 718 3rd party with a company called fresh, still think its way over the top though, but you gotta pay what you gotta pay

Do you pay it all up front or monthly?
I got a quote for 800-odd on confused/go compare.com and went with the cheapest but cos I didn't have 800 quid lying around in the bank I had to go for monthly and it worked out about 300 a year more. Hopefully I can pay it all up front this year and save myself a few quid.
Bunch of cunts.
It's illegal not to have it, but when you need to claim on it you don't want to cos it will only end up costing you money so you don't use it!

i unfortunately have to pay monthly aswell, costing about a hundred or so more, gonna save up for next years and try and pay it off in full, make it cheaper, it pisses me off how much im wasting on insurance when after 2 years no claims it should show them im not gonna rush around causing crashes

You would have been stopped if it was an ANPR, as they scan for insurance. Wouldn't worry about it too much.
I've been stopped before on a night out when I was driving, and they claimed I had no insurance. Fact is I did but we changed policies and the insurance companies hadn't updated the system so it was showing I had no insurance. That said, old bill can be complete wankers in that instance. Bombarding you with questions about whether its your car, what insurance policy you are on etc

Wonder how much I'd be quoted at 24 on something like a 1.4 Golf? Is it true that price goes down at 25?

All depends on how long you have been driving and what no claims bonus you have.
Aye, your postcode will have a big effect on it too. Mine went up £300 when I moved to town.

From what i gather, insurers put in your postcode details and it brings up a guide/set price. Then depending on your circumstances (i.e. no claims, number of claims, driving bans etc) they then add or subtract fees from the price given to your postcode.
